Overall, May was a very full and nice month. For the first week of the month, I was visiting my Mom. We spent some time at the beach, going to some nice restaurants, watching the Kentucky Derby, and enjoying some quality time. We bought her new shrubs for her birthday/ Mother's day which she was very happy about. I miss her being closer so I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with her. Plus, it is always nice to escape my Ohio responsibilities. Volleyball started up in May so I have been doing that about 3 times a week. It is nice seeing my friends more consistently again! I value their friendship very much. It was also my girlfriend's birthday in May so we went out to eat and successfully completed an Escape Room. Later in the month, my girlfriend and I took an 8 day trip to Europe. We visited Amsterdam, Bruges/ Ghent, Zaans Schans, Brussels, and Dinant/ Luxembourg. It was our Dutch vacation! We saw beautiful roses, plenty of canals, windmills, learned about the history of the area, and enjoyed the local food. It was a solid vacation!
Also, good news in May, I am in a new role under the same manager. Now, I will be focusing more on data warehouse management. It is more aligned with my previous experience and what I enjoy doing. This also means I get a 9.5% raise! That puts my base salary around ~120K. It's crazy to think last year I was grinding to break 6 figures and now I'm 20K above that. I am very blessed and I want to make my manager proud.
Looking forward to June, I am spending the weekends visiting family and friends. Week days will be filled with volleyball and trying to enjoy the sunshine as much as possible.
*Note: I now include equity in my primary mortgage in my assets because it is considered an investment.
