Summer has quickly come to a close. I have thankfully recovered from both my high ankle sprain and my wisdom teeth surgery. Last week was my first back to volleyball, so it hasn't been healed for long but I'm glad to be back in the saddle. August was a weird month. Mom came in the very first week and helped me to redecorate most of my house. I dropped several hundred dollars to make it more homey since I don't plan on moving out for several years now that I am single again. I wanted to feel comfortable and it was also time for a change. I do like the vibes a lot more in the house now. She also helped me with house chores since I couldn't move around very well. I had a week in between and then it was time for Hawaii.

Hawaii was a nice time. It took a long time to get there. Total time in the air was about 9-10 hours plus layovers and airport time. We were based in Honolulu, but took day trips to the Big Island and Maui. We hiked about everyday, went to a luau, snorkeled with sea turtles, saw Pearl Harbor, went to the Dole Plantation, and hiked up a mountain ridge. It was a beautiful place. I give it a 7.8/10. Excellent to see once, more beautiful than Brussels and Netherlands, but I don't need to go back soon. It was also pretty expensive. My budget is shot for the year by this point. Way more expensive than I anticipated.

Like I predicted, it did not help my old girlfriend and I heal. We still acted like a couple sometimes on the trip, and I went into a funk basically as soon as we got back. It kind of reset any healing, so it's going to be hard in September. I had fun at my buddy's bachelor party this past weekend. We went to Put in Bay and went to the bars/ pool. It was a nice time and I had a good time with his buddies.

I'm looking forward to putting this summer behind me. It has been very difficult mentally and emotionally. I'm not sure what the future holds, but I know God has a plan for me. I just need to work on being the best man I can be and being patient. One positive thing is I have continued to enjoy going to church and I am glad to have the opportunity to go. Looking to September, I am dog-sitting at my Dad's house for the first week. I have a friend's house party that weekend. After that, I am going down to my Mom's the last week for my step-brother's wedding and to pick up my truck. Between then, I plan on laying low and trying to not spend very much money.

*Note: I now include equity in my primary mortgage in my assets because it is considered an investment.
